The Pujol i Bausis factory, now a museum, was a point of reference in the ceramics production in Catalonia and one of the most important Modernist factories. Visitors can see five different types of kilns and follow the evolution of the ceramic industry through several finished products.
The kilns and other elements of interest of what was once the top Modernist ceramic factory in Catalonia can now be visited in “La Rajoleta” Ceramic Museum, formerly known as Hijo de Jaime Pujol i Bausis Ceramic Factory. The visit includes a technological journey showing different types of kilns for cooking ceramics, from the spectacular exterior bottle ovens to the Arab kilns in which hundreds of tiles and other architectural pieces were fired.
During this route we will also encounter samples of some pieces fired in the factory and still to be found in such emblematic locations as the Hospital de Sant Pau and Parc Güell. The visit ends in the space dedicated to mosaic artist Lluís Brú, author of notable designs of ceramic wall tiles and mosaics produced in Esplugues during the Modernist era.
