An opportunity to live the past (1919-1947), when the stonemasons fight to recover the public character of their quarries, in a ludic space characterized in that period, with theater, gastronomy, dance, music, and demonstrations.

It is also a chance to know what it means to be Stonecutter in Macael, the Land of Marble, through the "Litigation of the quarries". A crucial fact in the history of Macael. The stonemasons and their families, after a prolonged struggle (from 1919 to 1947), recover the public character of their quarries, communal according to the tradition inherited from Muslim time, against their attempt of privatization by the local caciques.

The event involves all the neighbors who will become that weekend in hosts to show visitors their culture.

We will find traditional professions and typical characters of this time within a ludic space characterized by the most representative buildings and scenarios of that period. In them the performance will be mixed with the audience, who will have the opportunity to taste tapas based on traditional gastronomy, dance to the music of the time (Charleston, swing, pasodobles, Mazurca), contemplate demonstrations of stonework, Crafts and sculpture, how they lowered the marble in ox carts, buy typical products, and celebrate that the town of Macael recovers its quarries with barrels of wine, as happened in 1947.

Held every year, the last weekend in May, on Boulevard de las esculturas, Macael, Almería, Spain.
