It is an industrial monument protected by the Andalusian Government since 2017. Between 1912 and 1968 this factory was making kraft paper (cardboard) from wood pulp. This was used for packaging and sacks to transport and protect the goodsproduced in the industrial complexes of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo.
Today the mill houses the national litotec, the geologic and petrographic collection of Geological and Mining Institute of Spain, which is open both for professional and amateur use.
The mining mineral collection allows the visitors to make a fascinating journey to the centre of the earth.
