In the summer of 2012, the Calvinistic Church in Tiszaszentimre was renovated and some very beautiful and unique stamped brick was found which show the parochialism and patriotism of the builders. Every part of the church was made from differently stamped bricks. So, the management had a decision that they will open a museum for these old bricks on the empty first floor of the church’s tower. Nowadays, you can find there more than 300 piece of brick from all of Carpathians. These bricks are mainly Hebrew, Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Lutheran and Calvinistic.
The museum is unique, because it is:
- parochialist: contains the local patrician bricks;
- hungarikum: there are more than 30 thousand type of stamped bricks in Carpathian Basin. This collection brings this huge value closer to the public;
- ecumenical: there are a lot of different type of bricks independently their religion;
- comes from Carpathian Basin: there are bricks from every disannexed part of the country.
