The objectives of the project are focused on the area of urban environment. From this point of view, the restoration of the quarries will contribute to closing a periurban space now degraded and to integrate it within the city. In doing so through cyclical corridors, it clearly contributes to a change in the mobility model of the city of Teruel.
The project aims to reduce the leisure travel needs of the Turolenses, by offering them an integrated natural recreational space within the city. The project includes an ambitious reforestation designed to play, among other things, the role of CO2 sink.
For all this, the project can be considered a project to adapt to climate change.
The objectives therefore are as follows:
- Resolution of environmental problems in an environmentally degraded area for centuries, as a result of the mining of the clay quarries, revaluing the natural and cultural heritage.
- Integration of peri-urban spaces within the city, improving the quality of urban life.
- Strengthen the network of roads and paths present in the environment.
- Contribute to the fight against climate change by building a series of green axes that connect the urban center with this area, increasing Teruel's cycle network, promoting sustainable mobility and reducing CO2.
- Halting the loss of biodiversity.
- To contribute knowledge and data in the fight against tropospheric ozone pollution.
- Combat erosion and soil degradation.
- Consolidation of "Los Monotes".
- Recover areas of degraded soils by their use as uncontrolled landfill.
- Citizen participation of the whole process, actively involving the population in the design
